Identification

  • Medium-sized (11–14 mm), bronze with three white maculations on each elytron (often broken).
  • Metallic green reflections; fast runner on sandy or gravelly ground.
  • Bimodal activity: spring and late summer/fall.

Habitat in New Brunswick

Prefers sandy or gravelly riverbanks, lake shores, roadsides, and open disturbed areas. Common on beaches and paths near water.

Flight Season in NB

May 3 – September 20 (spring–fall; bimodal peaks May–June & Aug–Sep).

Distribution & Notes

Widespread across New Brunswick, particularly along rivers and coastal areas. One of the most commonly encountered species with two activity peaks. Populations often abundant on suitable sandy/gravel sites.
